The Kingoonya Amateur Picnic Race Club (KAPRC) held their first and highly successful race meeting in 1916 at Kingoonya to a huge crowd and, after the ongoing high attendances of this Northwest event, 1984 saw its move to Glendambo to allow for the new Stuart highway.
After 37 years of Glendambo hosting this event, a name change was made to incorporate the location and allow various sports to be held, as the days of horse racing had long passed, and the Kingoonya Amateur Picnic Race Club was renamed and rebranded the Glendambo District Sports Club (GDSC).
The yearly event, held in October, now boasts a full day of action with novelties, crowd events, stalls, merchandise, kids’ entertainment, live music and of course, amazing food and drinks.
2026 marks 110 years of the successful gymkhana/motokhana with many more anniversary years to look forward to.
